Yesterday I got my InterWave mug in the mail. Yep. You heard right. An InterWave mug, and it is awesome. On Monday I kept thinking I needed something tangible to represent InterWave. I really don’t know why, but I guess it is just one of those humanly things we do for the things that we care about. Of course, now I have a favorite mug to pour coffee into each morning.
I ordered it from CafePress, and this is the first time I’ve actually gotten anything from them. I was really bummed because they don’t carry a black mug, and the logo looks so much better on dark backgrounds, but I am impressed by the quality of the print (I did look at several other places, and none had black either). It is kind of expensive ($15 for the small mug, not including shipping), so any mass ordering would be less than ideal. But, now I’m curious to see how it looks on clothing.
What will really be interesting is what kind of merchandise we can make for Nuclear Dawn. Shirts, posters, mugs, mouse pads, etc. all with Nuclear Dawn artwork, very much like Valve has done with their games on the Valve Store.
Can’t wait!

For the past month or so, I have been trying out a piece of software that claims to improve your sleep. Yeah. It sounds crazy, and I almost didn’t try it. But, since a friend recommended it, I went ahead and gave it a go, and I’m glad I did. They call it f.lux, and it works by changing the color temperature (warm/cold) of your screen, rather than the brightness.
It turns out that natural light from the sun is very cold in color temperature, while indoor lights, besides most fluorescent lights, are very warm. Research has shown that these colder color temperatures negatively affect sleep patterns, and the computer screen is a major source of this kind of light.
Now, I will say it takes a bit of getting used to, and you might even want to turn it off at first. As night falls, the screen begins to “warm” in color and everything starts looking quite strange. Leave it on, though, and the benefits start to become apparent. It just feels much easier on your eyes.
Go on – give f.lux a go.

I think I am finally going to start blogging. I am not sure why I am, but one of the benefits I am genuinely interested in is the organization of my thoughts, and it is a good way to talk about anything I’ve been working on, something cool I’ve come across, or whatever.
Hopefully, I will have a prototype of a side project ready soon, and then I can begin talking about that. I can’t really blog on anything concerning Nuclear Dawn at this point, but sometime in the next few months.
Verifying on technorati…
